At the recent parish lunch there was a presentation of a cheque for €3500 to the Hospice Charity Board Chairman, David McKewan by John and Anne Kearns a result of recent UK fund raising.

We would like to thank all those in the UK for their continued support which is an important part of our fund raising efforts.

Hospice Spruce Up

Prior to the final push for completion a couple of things have happened, firstly we have had to temporarily secure the building with chain link fencing and secure indoor areas such as the lift shaft, to prevent accidents. Secondly after a long wet winter Marcos Efstathiou, (picture attached) who is the Parish Hospice Liaison Manager, has arranged for a team of cleaners to tidy and clean the interior, a messy but very important job. A series of meeting will take place soon as to future progress towards the “big push”. Details will follow.

Senora Ferrero Supports Charity Event

In the picture is Fr Carlos with his mother from Argentina who is with us for a month on Holiday, she is purchasing a ribbon for €1 which goes towards a Guiness world record attempt to achieve a chain of 30,000 ribbons, Also in the picture is Denise Beaton, the Charity event organiser.

Good luck to the charity with this worthy cause. All proceeds will go to the Hospice.

Happy St Patrick’s Day

May the Blessings of St Patrick be with you on this St Patrick’s Day. A day made even happier with the donation of €1,176 to the St Michael’s Hospice raised by Fáilte Pafos at their event on Thursday night.

Secret Valley Golf Club Supports Hospice

We were delighted to welcome members of Secret Valley Golf Club to the parish office on 14th March, following a presentation and a visit to the Hospice site (torrential rain accompanying us) confirmation was given that we will be the official club Charity for 2012.

Bishop of Cremona

Today we welcomed Bishop Dante Lafranconi, 6 Parish Priests and members of the Diocese of Cremona, Italy. The group are an a tour of Cypriot Landmarks and Our Church was a major part of their pilgrimage. Following Mass said by the Bishop, Fr. Jim gave a talk on the church and its environs, which was followed by a presentation on the Hospice.

The group very kindly donated €210 for the Hospice, we are very grateful and hope our Italian friends enjoy the remainder of the stay in our beautiful Island.
